^^^^^^As painter for those in power, you would not need specific feelings [keine bestimmten Empfindungen], like anger about a specific [bestimmtes] injustice or desire for specific things [bestimmten Dingen] that are being withheld, or feelings [Empfindungen] connected with knowledge that provoke feelings [Empfindungen] which might change the world or change things in specific [bestimmter] ways; but only very general, vague, nameless feelings [ganz allgemeine, vage, unnennbare Empfindungen], which are available to everybody, to the thieves and the robbed, to the oppressors and the oppressed.
Then you paint something red and indeterminate [Unbestimmtes], for instance, and some people cry at the sight of this red and indeterminate [Unbestimmten] thing because it reminds them of a rose, while other people cry because it reminds them of a child covered in blood who has been torn to bits by flying bombs.
